Chateaued and wined
Before our feast we headed out for another chateau visit. Following that we did a quick stop at three wineries. The first a small vineyard and an artisan winemaker. Walked out with 6 bottles.
The second was a co-op walked out with 3 bottles.
The last winery was the highlight of the day. We almost drove past the farm. Thankfully we didn't. Run by a father (with hands the size of plates and as gnarled as his beloved vines) and son team it is the quintessential small french farm wine maker. What a joy to see a family going quietly about it's business. We had some tastes and found our wine maker of choice. then noticed locals coming in to the shed with what looked like 5 litre barrels. The were having their weekly top up of wine. Fantastic.
