Last days

Tonight is our last night in this pocket of the Loire Valley. It has had a big impact on how we view overseas trips. The relief and joy of having a peaceful more remote stay is a great contrast to the hustle and bustle of racing around thinking you have to see everything.
Having said that we squeezed one more chateau in on this rainy day. Off to Amboise on the banks of the Loire River to check out the chateau and Leonardo Da Vinici's last home. Da Vinci's was a pleasure beautiful gardens with working models of some of his inventions. The models and presentation of some of his works inside the home weren't up to the standard of the Da Vinci machines exhibition in Sicily but it is worthwhile. (did I just damn with faint praise?).

Heading back we made one last stop at the father and son winery in Blere. Bought 6 bottles of Sauvignon for the Montressor house. Hopefully it will lead others there. There is a vague family connection to Australia. A brothers relative married an Oz girl and is now living in Adelaide.
As we were about to drive off the father dropped a half bottle of the Sauvignon into our lap. His smile and joy and pride in his winery are reason enough to support him. The quality of the wine is a bonus. The Rose is also a good drop.

Drinking the half bottle now like we have nothing to do. Hey just got to pack and clean up, visit the patisserie and the cafe for a coffee and final goodbye. And drive off to get the train to the airport.

No other pics having a tech problem with camera downloads.
