Funny day. Things happen in 3's.
Vatican here we come. To late! the line is longer than the one lining up to get AFL grand final tickets, It's hot and the Roma pass doesn't get you in. I think it's called poor planning.
Lets go the Nationale Museum - not open on Mondays yep poor planing.
Head to the Trevi Fountain - it's empty and covered in scaffolding!
The rest of the day was great wandering around the forum. Hard to believe you're leaning against brick walls over 2000 years old. The planning and design are stunning. Apartments open to courtyards with pools and/or fountains. Lost of public space with gardens. I wonder if anyone from Mereton has been here.
We also made it to the Pantheon and it wasn't closed. A pagan temple that is now a church. The scale is stunning. It dominates the Piazza. It's late afternoon time for a beer. Take the first sip and I hear Pink Floyd, the beer is good but not that good. A guy has set up his guitar and is playing Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon and playing it well. He has a bigger crowd than are in the Pantheon, the crowd are cheering him one. Somehow it fits.
The kids are stunned that the Pantheon has a hole in the dome. tIt is supposed to be some sight when it rains and even more so if you manage to catch it when it's snowing.
