Playing catch up
Granada is famous for the Alhambra. So famous if you don't book well ahead you're at risk of not seeing the damn thing.
We ended up with a night visit to the palaces and a day visit to the rest.
The night visit was like being at a strobe disco as a mass of people let off flashes, night vision lost you stumble to the next room to be hit again. After worrying about christian excess in churches, the Palace provides a great example of the moor's excess. The excess a reflection of power that led to division in the moor ranks creating an opportunity for the Christians to reassert themselves.
The place is so overwhelming you have to remind yourself it wasn't built by one man but over a number of generations. The gardens are stunning.
Have to stay though I prefer the more accessible Alcazar of Seville.
